Who are we
Ona is a software engineering social enterprise headquartered from Nairobi, Kenya, and Vermont, USA. Our team of approximately 70 staff are a leading technology partner to the world’s leading health, development and humanitarian organizations, including UNICEF, the WHO, the WFP - amongst others.
At Ona, we don't just strive for diversity, we thrive on it. For Ona, diversity has been a spring board for creativity, innovation, and growth. We are committed to giving equal opportunities to employees and applicants regardless of their race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, color, nationality, age, marital status, or pregnancy status.
We're looking for developers who want to build foundational data systems that drive change. Our team has worked on projects that record the social infrastructure of entire countries, tally the winners of national elections, and reduce infant mortality. We build software that solves real problems and you will too.
This position is to work on the OpenSRP team at Ona. OpenSRP is an open source digital health platform that allows frontline health workers to electronically register and track the health of their entire client population. OpenSRP not only digitizes health worker workflows and tasks, but better connects health workers to the constituencies they serve, with the broader health system in which they operate. Read more about OpenSRP in the link provided here.
For this project specifically, you’ll have the unique opportunity to help Ona and our partners, Last Mile Health (LMH) build out a first national-scale community health worker platform, called eCBIS (electronic community-based information system).
The eCBIS platform builds on the work Ona and LMH have been involved with for the past 2 years, in building a vaccine tracking system (VTS) in Liberia. eCBIS will be built on OpenSRP and will be fully FHIR based, to support the digitization of the Liberian health system, and help ensure equitable access to healthcare for its citizens.
Together with a Project Manager and Engineer from the Ona team in Nairobi, you will be based at the offices of LMH in Monrovia and work very closely with their team on the ground, as well as with Ona’s teams in Nairobi, the USA and South Africa, to deliver the project, in support of the Ministry of Health in Liberia.
